My Practice

I offer psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families.

As a couple and family therapist, I see my clients in the context of their relationships with others: their partners, their children, their friends and families. We live in relationships.

People consult me for various reasons, such as to build a more positive interaction with their partners, to cease struggling with the effects of anxiety and depression, or to better understand and respond to life changes. I have special expertise in the following areas:

    - Couples therapy, including,

    • Multicultural and biracial couples
    • Co-parenting

    - Family therapy, including,

    • Families in transition
    • Adult children's relationship with parents

    - Individual therapy

    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Grief
    • Trauma

Clearly understanding what creates problems and how they affect our life offers the possibility of generating long-term solutions and a sense of wellbeing that comes from lining up one's values with one's way of living life. Together we identify the small and continuous changes that lead one to reach their goals, such as increasing communication and intimacy, generating harmonious relationships, working with unexpected changes, learning how to establish connection and boundaries with others.

I have a particular interest in couple therapy because relationships are fundamental to our lives. I also have experience on issues of migration and immigration and how they contribute to a person's identity. I have presented workshops at various institutions on experiences of migration and immigration, and on what helps prepare individuals and families when moving overseas. I find it fascinating to observe the effects of hope as it transforms itself into intention and action.

I have had over 10 years of experience working with couples and families. Adding to my experience, I am a licensed supervisor and provided clinical supervision to Family Therapy students at the University of Maryland. Currently I offer supervision to professional therapists who are interested in expanding their clinical skills.
